Nghi Dong commune (Nghi Loc district) receives certificate recognizing it as a New Rural Area.

On the morning of April 21st, Nghi Dong commune, Nghi Loc district, received the certificate recognizing it as a New Rural Area standard commune in 2018. Attending the ceremony were Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with representatives from the Provincial Office for Coordinating the National Target Program on Building New Rural Areas.

Nghi Dong, a semi-mountainous commune located in the northwest of Nghi Loc district, has 1,442 households with over 5,600 inhabitants, distributed across 9 residential hamlets.

Over the past eight years of implementing the National Target Program for New Rural Development, the Party committees, government, departments, mass organizations, and people of Nghi Dong commune have always united, overcome all difficulties, strived, and taken advantage of all resources to invest in infrastructure development and shift the economic structure towards the right direction. To date, Nghi Dong commune has mobilized more than 137 billion VND for new rural development; of which the people contributed 71.135 billion VND, accounting for 52%.

The rural landscape has seen significant improvements: 100% of inter-village, inter-commune, and village roads have been concreted; educational and medical facilities are fully equipped and meet prescribed standards; 100% of hamlets have cultural centers that meet standards, and the environment is green, clean, and beautiful.

Average per capita income reached over 31 million VND/year. The poverty rate decreased to 2.37%.

On this occasion, 4 collectives and 4 individuals were awarded Certificates of Commendation by the Provincial People's Committee; 3 collectives and 3 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the "Nghe An joins forces to build new rural areas" emulation movement.
