April 30th - May 1st Holiday: Prime Minister approves 5-day break.
The Government Office has issued document No. 2450/VPCP-KGVX dated April 12, 2024, conveying the Prime Minister's directive on swapping working days during the holidays of Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) in 2024.
Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in document No. 1511/LĐTBXH-CATLĐ dated April 11, 2024, regarding the proposal to swap working days during the holidays of Victory Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1), 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agrees with the aforementioned proposal of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on swapping working days during the holidays of Victory Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1), 2024.
Agencies and units implementing the above holiday schedule must arrange their working departments appropriately to ensure continuous work and provide good service to organizations and the public, paying particular attention to assigning officials and civil servants to be on duty to handle any unexpected or sudden incidents that may occur.
The Prime Minister authorizes the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to announce the exchange and holiday schedule for Victory Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1) 2024 to agencies, units, businesses and workers.
* Previously, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs reported to the Prime Minister on a plan to swap the normal working day on Monday, April 29th, during the April 30th - May 1st holiday period this year and organize another compensatory working day.
Specifically, for civil servants and public employees, this working day will be swapped to Saturday, May 4th. With this swap, civil servants and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off, from Saturday, April 27th to Wednesday, May 1st.
For workers, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs encourages employers to apply the April 30th - May 1st holiday period as stipulated for civil servants and public employees. The state management agency for labor emphasizes the requirement to ensure full implementation of all benefits for workers as prescribed by law, and encourages agreements that are more favorable to workers.
