Two Belgian police officers suspected of being attacked by terrorists

(Baonghean.vn) - A spokesman for the Belgian Federal Prosecutor's Office said on October 5 that they are investigating the stabbing of two police officers in the Schaarbeek district of Brussels on the same day, and said the attack showed signs of a terrorist attack.

The spokesman told CNN that two police officers are currently in a state of non-life-threatening injury.

According to VRT television, one police officer was stabbed in the neck and the other in the stomach. The attacker then broke the nose of a third police officer when he arrived at the scene.

VRT added that the attacker was shot in the leg, was later arrested and taken away in an ambulance.

The Belgian federal prosecutor has not yet commented on the case or why it has accepted the case. In Belgium, the federal prosecutor's office is responsible for investigating cases involving organized crime and terrorism.

Brussels has been on alert since the March 2016 bombings at Brussels airport and the city's metro station that killed 32 people.

In the early afternoon of October 5, the Gare du Nord station in Brussels was also closed for an hour due to a bomb alert. The station later returned to normal operations after the bomb squad inspected the area.
