Ngo Hoang Thinh - the 'Vietnamese version' of Marco Reus
(Baonghean.vn) - Despite their different playing styles, preferred positions, and even appearances, Ngo Hoang Thinh and Marco Reus share a very noticeable commonality: they frequently miss opportunities to play for the national team due to injuries.
Marco Reus is one of the best German footballers of the last 10 years. Unlike his performances for Dortmund and Monchengladbach, the midfielder, born in 1989, has consistently been unlucky with the German national team. Injuries have been the main reason Marco Reus has been unable to participate with the Mannschaft in major tournaments (World Cup 2014 and Euro 2016).

Similar to Marco Reus's situation in distant Germany is the case of Ngo Hoang Thinh in Vietnam. The midfielder from Nghe An was recently dropped from the 25-player squad by coach Park Hang-seo for the two matches against the UAE and Thailand in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Asian region. Not recovering in time from a groin injury is the reason Ngo Hoang Thinh had to pack his bags and return home.

In the past, the former SLNA player missed the opportunity to participate in the 27th (2013) and 28th (2015) SEA Games due to injury. Witnessing Ngo Hoang Thinh's repeated missed opportunities to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey, many Vietnamese football fans have drawn parallels to the case of Marco Reus of the German national team in recent years. Calling Thinh "the mane-haired" the "Vietnamese version" of Marco Reus doesn't seem wrong at all.
