Thai purple corn is highly productive in Vinh City.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 11th, the Vinh City People's Committee organized a field workshop to evaluate the production model of Fancy 111 purple corn variety in the 2015 winter crop in Nghi An commune.

Attending the event were Comrade Vo Viet Thanh, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee; leaders of suburban communes of the city; agricultural cooperatives; and residents of Nghi An commune.

During the winter solstice, Vo Viet Thanh, Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, visited a model farm producing purple corn in Nghi An.

In the winter of 2015, with the support mechanism for seed investment and model production in Vinh City, Advanta Vietnam Company, in coordination with the City's Economic Department and the People's Committee of Nghi An commune, introduced the Fancy purple corn variety from Thailand and planted 36 hectares of purple corn in Nghi An, Hung Chinh, Dong Vinh, Nghi Kim, Nghi Duc, Hung Loc, Nghi Lien...

This corn variety grows in 70 days, covering an area of ​​500 square meters.²Using 0.5 kg of seeds, the crop yields approximately 1000 ears of corn per sao (a unit of land measurement). Selling at 4000 VND per ear at the field, the estimated revenue is 5-6 million VND per sao. After deducting costs for seeds, fertilizers, etc., the profit per sao ranges from 2,800,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND.

The first time this crop was introduced to Nghi An, it yielded a good harvest, so the farmers there were very excited.

This variety of corn is also considered nutritious, containing many micronutrients beneficial to health. It is known that during the past winter season, Vinh City provided 200 million VND in corn seeds to the communes.

Leaders of communes and cooperatives in the area visited the purple corn model in Nghi An.

This is a new, high-yielding corn variety with large ears and sweet, sticky kernels. Harvesting one sao (approximately 1000 square meters) yields 3 million VND after deducting expenses in 2 months.
