At the same time, no one wants to force Moscow to “kneel,” German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at the Russia-Germany forum in Berlin on May 30.
Germany, according to Mr. Steinmeier, needs to make every effort to ease tensions in relations with Russia and build dialogue, while continuing to defend its position.
The minister believes that no one is interested in weakening Russia economically. "Sanctions are not the main goal, not a means to force partners to their knees," he said.
