At the same time, no one wants to force Moscow "to its knees." German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier made this statement at the Russia-Germany forum in Berlin on May 30.
According to Steinmeier, Germany needs to make every effort to ease tensions in its relations with Russia and build dialogue, while continuing to defend its position.
The minister stated that no one is interested in weakening Russia economically. "Sanctions are not the main goal, nor are they a means to force a partner to its knees," he said.
