Iran's Foreign Minister plans to visit Russia on June 23
Iran's foreign minister plans to travel to Moscow on June 23 to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to RIA Novosti, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said he plans to go to Moscow on Monday, June 23, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"He said he plans to go to Moscow on Monday to meet with President Putin," NBC News journalist Andrea Mitchel said on television, after an interview with the Iranian foreign minister.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said the US had used talks with Iran on a nuclear deal as a cover for Israeli attacks, thus undermining trust in the negotiations.
"He suggested that Washington may not really be interested in diplomacy and is simply using the talks as a 'cover' for an Israeli air strike on Iran," NBC News quoted the Iranian foreign minister as saying.
The Trump administration should “show its determination to negotiate a deal,” Aragchi said, adding that Iran was unsure whether it could trust the United States in diplomatic talks after the Israeli attack.
"What they did was really a diplomatic betrayal," Foreign Minister Aragchi added.
On the night of June 13, Israel launched a campaign against Iran, accusing it of carrying out a secret military nuclear program. The targets of aerial bombings and attacks by sabotage groups were nuclear facilities, generals, famous nuclear physicists, air bases, air defense systems, and surface-to-surface missiles.
Iran denies there is a military component to its nuclear project. The head of the International Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said on June 18 that the agency's inspectors had found no concrete evidence that Iran was working on a nuclear weapons program.
