The village of Miejsce Odrzańskie is devoid of baby boys, so the mayor has decided to offer a large reward to any family that produces a son.
Most of the 300 residents of the village of Miejsce Odrzańskie are women. To this day, experts have been unable to determine why couples in this southern Polish village only have daughters. The youngest boy living in the village is now 12 years old.
Mayor Rajmund Frischko has pledged a substantial reward to the first family to have a son following the surge in female births. The value of the reward has not been disclosed, but he promised it will be "a very attractive gift."

Professor Tomasz Golasz, who lives in the village, said that the head of the volunteer fire brigade there is also a woman. "This has been going on for decades. I came to the village a long time ago and married a local girl. We have two granddaughters. Our neighbors all have daughters, even though they always longed for and tried to have a son," the professor shared.
Information about the unusual gender imbalance in the village of Miejsce Odrzańskie spread throughout Poland and attracted much attention. Professor Rafał Płoski, Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at Warsaw Medical University, believes that a more thorough examination of historical records and statistics is needed to find the cause of this mysterious phenomenon. Researchers also plan to conduct interviews with parents and children in the village with varying living conditions to obtain the most accurate answer.
