Nestled in a wide valley, Mount Eye of God (Cao Bang) stands out with its unique feature: a large hole xuyên through the mountain's interior, with a diameter of approximately 50m at its widest point.

Mount Mat Than is located within the Thang Hen Lake scenic area of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, a complex of 36 interconnected lakes situated in the communes of Cao Chuong (Trung Khanh district) and Quoc Toan (Trung Khanh district), approximately 50km from the center of Cao Bang city.

This is a "healing" destination that attracts a large number of visitors every year thanks to its pristine, lush green scenery and many interesting activities that allow visitors to immerse themselves in nature.

According to locals, Mount Eye of God is also known as Mount Hole (in the Tay ethnic language, it's called Phia Piót) because at the top of the mountain there is a large hole xuyên through the mountain's interior, resembling a "giant eye" with a diameter of about 50m at its widest point.

At the foot of the mountain lies a vast valley, surrounded by lakes and numerous small streams. The landscape is said to change with the seasons.

During the dry season (from September to March in the lunar calendar), the valley is lush green with vibrant grass, attracting tourists for camping and picnics. During the rainy season (from April to August in the lunar calendar), the water level rises, transforming the area into a large, clear lake suitable for boating and fishing.

If you want to visit this place, tourists should check the weather forecast before their trip, avoiding days with bad weather to ensure safety and have the best experience.

According to Hoang Van Huy (from Hanoi, specializing in tours to Ha Giang and Cao Bang), visitors to the Eye of God Mountain not only get to admire the magnificent natural scenery but also have the opportunity to participate in several interesting activities such as mountain climbing, camping, and boating.

In addition, tourists can also combine their visit with other destinations such as Nam Tra waterfall; Danh village with its traditional stilt houses with yin-yang tiled roofs; or learn about the cultural life of the Tay ethnic people in the area.

"Don't forget to try some delicious local specialties like ant egg sticky rice, chestnuts, rice rolls, rice flour cakes, free-range chicken, black jelly, etc.," Huy suggested.

According to the young man, the route to Mount Eye of God is easy to navigate. The two most popular routes are from the center of Cao Bang City via Ma Phuc Pass or starting from Lenin Stream (Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district).

Of these routes, the one via Ma Phuc Pass is more popular with tourists because it is one of the most famous and beautiful passes in Cao Bang.

"Near Ma Phuc Pass, there's a very beautiful stretch of road, which is also a popular stop for tourists to take photos before reaching the Eye of God Mountain," Huy added.

At the Eye of God Mountain, visitors can enjoy a day trip independently or register for a tour with several options such as a specialized Cao Bang tour with a 3-day 2-night or 2-day 1-night itinerary, or a combined Ha Giang - Cao Bang tour, etc.

Here, if you want to stay overnight, you should bring your own tent or rent one from some nearby accommodation businesses at a price ranging from 400,000 to 600,000 VND per night per person.
