Quynh Luu fishermen hit the jackpot with a catch of needlefish.
(Baonghean.vn) - After the Lunar New Year until now, taking advantage of favorable weather, Quynh Luu fishermen have actively gone to sea; some of them have returned with boats full of needlefish - a type of fish for export with high economic value.

Arriving at Lach Quen port, Tien Thuy commune on the morning of March 28, dozens of fishing boats of Quynh Luu fishermen arrived one after another, the crew members were all excited because of the big catch of needlefish.
Fisherman To Duy Truyen - owner of a fishing boat in Quynh Nghia commune shared that his boat went out to sea for 7 days and caught more than 2 tons of needlefish. It is currently the big season so every trip is a big hit. It is estimated that after deducting expenses, each trip earns several hundred million VND, like the trip that just returned this morning, he earned about 200 million VND.

The fish are sold directly to traders at the wharf for 120,000 VND/kg, the smaller ones are priced at 100,000 VND/kg. The remaining fish are bought by small traders and sold at retail markets in Nghe An and neighboring provinces for 150,000 - 180,000 VND/kg.
According to fisherman Ho Van Manh in Tien Thuy commune, hairtail fish is a type of fish that is mainly caught by nets or by hook at night, 40-50 nautical miles from shore. Hairtail fish season starts from November to March of the following lunar year. This is a high-value seafood, with large boats earning up to billions of dong per trip. Hairtail fish is expensive, but is popular with people because when processed, the fish meat is rich, delicious and nutritious.
