Defendant Thai Khac Thanh was acquitted of criminal responsibility by the Hung Yen Provincial People's Court at the appellate trial of the white pheasant case.

On October 17th, at the appellate trial of the white pheasant case, after deliberation, the Hung Yen Provincial People's Court acquitted defendant Thai Khac Thanh (residing in Do Luong commune, Nghe An province) of criminal responsibility.

According to Judge Pham Ngoc Thanh (presiding judge), the prosecution of defendant Thai Khac Thanh was correct in identifying the perpetrator and the crime, but considering the request of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Procuracy, the court decided to amend the first-instance judgment and exempt the defendant from criminal responsibility.

After receiving the decision from the Hung Yen Provincial People's Court, defendant Thai Khac Thanh expressed his gratitude to the panel of judges and the Hung Yen Provincial People's Procuracy for their fair, humane, and timely judgment that exempted him from criminal responsibility. After the trial, defendant Thai Khac Thanh embraced his wife and held his child happily on the day of his release.

On the morning of October 17th, the Hung Yen Provincial People's Court held an appeal hearing in the criminal case against defendant Thai Khac Thanh (45 years old, residing in Thinh Tam hamlet, Do Luong commune, Nghe An province) for violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare animals.

Numerous law enforcement officers were deployed to control the area around the courthouse entrance. Some citizens were also present to observe the trial.

Defendant Thai Khac Thanh and his relatives arrived early to attend the trial. Defendant Thanh appeared quite tense and anxious.

The trial was opened due to an appeal by defendant Thai Khac Thanh and a protest against the entire first-instance judgment of the Chief Prosecutor of Hung Yen province. Five lawyers participated in defending defendant Thai Khac Thanh.
