Who is the person who can put an end to Ukraine's counterattack?

Ria Novosti, citing a commentary by the SCMP, suggests that the new Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, could prevent a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"New House Speaker Johnson is opposed to further funding for Ukraine. Republican lawmakers in the House could simply reject President Joe Biden's request for aid to both Israel and Ukraine," SCMP reported.

Newly elected Speaker of the US House Mike Johnson does not support President Joe Biden's $106 billion aid package. Republicans in the House also argue that Israel should not be used as leverage to provide aid to Ukraine.

Furthermore, regarding aid to Kyiv, Mike Johnson emphasized that he wanted to know the ultimate goals and "final move" in Ukraine, but the White House had not provided that information.

SMCP emphasizes that, while Russia has demonstrated its ability to continue fighting, military support from the West is Ukraine's "lifeline." And this dependence will ultimately not be sustainable.

"If the US stops providing aid to Kyiv, it is highly unlikely that Europe will fill this void. Economies across Europe have been and are going through difficult times, even in economic powerhouses like Germany," SCMP wrote.

According to SCMP, sanctions against Russia have not yielded positive results. On the contrary, the Russian economy has not suffered any "fatal blows." The Russian economy is projected to grow by 2.5% this year – a rate far exceeding that of Germany.

"If economic sanctions fail and military action proves ineffective, a ceasefire will be the only option," SCMP stated.
