(Baonghean.vn) - Veteran Le Anh Dao, residing in Hamlet 3, Ly Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District (Nghe An Province), has achieved a comfortable life thanks to his success in raising frogs in cement tanks.

The land where veteran Le Anh Dao's family lives is on the slopes of Ly Thanh mountain. Unlike everyone else in the village who grows perennial crops with low economic efficiency, Mr. Dao transformed his family's garden into several sections.

In each area he planned, he planted different types of crops and raised different kinds of livestock, bringing high economic efficiency. Of these, he allocated about 300 square meters.2I've been building ponds to raise frogs for meat and breeding for the past 15 years.

According to CCB Le Anh Dao: Frogs are relatively easy to raise, their diet consists of a combination of commercial feed and shrimp, fish, freshwater crabs, and earthworms; the frog breed he is raising is a hybrid of Thai frogs and our native frogs. This is achieved by pairing a Thai female frog with a native male frog. Therefore, the offspring develop well, and the frogs for meat are large.

With 200 breeding pairs of frogs currently, CCB Le Anh Dao supplies the market with tens of thousands of froglets and over 2 tons of frog meat annually, worth over 140 million VND.

As a new and improved method for raising frogs, many people from within and outside the district have come to learn from his experience and have successfully raised them, generating high incomes.

Besides being a skilled frog breeder, war veteran Le Anh Dao also earns hundreds of millions of dong each year from selling products such as apples, pomelos, and custard apples.

Mr. Hoang Van Chin, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Thanh commune, said: Veteran Le Anh Dao is a first-degree disabled veteran and a victim of Agent Orange. He has risen to become a model of successful economic development in the commune for many years, and is being emulated by local associations at all levels.
