According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Do Luong district, on October 14, 2017, Do Luong district police discovered and caught Oanh red-handed holding two packages of drugs weighing 10.608 grams. Upon investigation, Oanh confessed that she was on her way to sell the drugs to a subject named Tuan for 6 million VND.
In court, Pham Thi Oanh confessed to selling drugs to make ends meet and raise her children because her husband was serving a prison sentence.
It is known that Oanh’s entire family has a “black” history of drugs. In 2016, Oanh’s father, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hinh (born 1939), was also sentenced by the People’s Court of Do Luong district to 18 months in prison for “illegally buying and selling drugs”.
Oanh's husband, Nguyen Dang Duc (born in 1974), was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province for "illegally trading in narcotics". Not long after that, in September 2017, their eldest daughter, Nguyen Thi Hang (born in 1997), was also arrested for illegal possession of narcotics and is preparing to be brought to trial.
For the defendant's crime, the People's Court sentenced Pham Thi Oanh to 5 years in prison.
