Locals caught what is believed to be a record-breakingly huge eel.
(Baonghean.vn) - This eel, caught by local people in Quy Chau district, Nghe An province, weighs over 6kg, is 1.3m long, has black spotted skin, and a slightly silvery white belly.
At around 9 am this morning (May 16th), Mr. Cam Ba Bang from Chieng village, Chau Thuan commune (Quy Chau district) caught an eel that was both heavy and long, which the locals consider a record.

This eel weighs over 6 kg, is 1.3m long, and has black spotted skin with a slightly silvery-white belly. Mr. Bang said: "In 2015, a local person also caught one weighing 4 kg, and normally eels only weigh from 1-2 kg. The one I caught is the biggest eel I've ever seen."
Eels, a type of catfish, are highly nutritious, so in some places they are sourced from the wild and bred to become a high-end food item, priced from 400,000 to 500,000 VND per kilogram.
