People in Hung Nguyen mobilize to build irrigation systems.
In response to the National Day for Irrigation Work, on the morning of October 13th, Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, held a ceremony to launch a campaign for all citizens to participate in irrigation work.
Hung Nguyen is one of the localities frequently affected by natural disasters, especially floods and waterlogging. Therefore, irrigation work is always given special attention by the local authorities.
Following the direction of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on organizing a campaign to mobilize the entire population to participate in irrigation and rural road construction, and to strengthen drought, saltwater intrusion, flood, and waterlogging prevention efforts, Hung Nguyen district organized a district-wide irrigation campaign from October 12th to December 31st, 2024.

During this peak period, Hung Nguyen district is striving to dredge 21,800m³ of canals.3Land; Embankment and repair of 79,300 m²3Field boundaries, plot edges; Area cleared, grass cut, and weed removal: 125,000 m²2with a total of 66,000 man-days.
For this year's campaign, the district has directed communes to develop specific plans and programs, including targets, locations, workload, and personnel allocation, tailored to the actual situation. All sectors must participate and achieve the assigned targets, avoiding mere formality.
On the first day of the campaign, approximately 10,000 people from across the district participated in irrigation work, including representatives from agencies, units, and schools located in the area.

Previously, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Plan No. 749/KH-UBND on organizing a campaign to mobilize the entire population to participate in irrigation, transportation, and new rural development projects, and to strengthen efforts to prevent drought, saltwater intrusion, floods, and urban flooding in 2024.
During the province-wide campaign from October 1st to December 31st, 2024, the goal is to complete 993,980 man-days of work and reinforce 73,933m of canals and ditches; and dredge and excavate 588,469m of land.3Dredging of drainage canals and internal drainage systems: 440,535 m3The area of land used for embankment and field boundaries is 493,689 m².3The total length of earthworks and concrete pouring for internal roads is 223,504m.3; clearing vegetation, mowing grass, removing weeds, scooping up water hyacinth... is 4,313,901 m2...In addition, we will mobilize more resources, machinery, and equipment from organizations and individuals in the area through social contributions..
