Nghe An people proactively upgrade 2G to 4G Viettel
In recent times, Viettel Nghe An has made efforts to coordinate with localities to implement many active solutions to propagate and support people to grasp information and policies of the State; thanks to that, more and more Viettel customers have proactively switched from pure 2G network devices to 4G-supported devices.
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Department of Information and Communications, Viettel Nghe An coordinated with agencies, units, and localities in the province to promote propaganda on the Electronic Information Page, official social network accounts of agencies, units, communication channels of wards, communes, etc. about the policy of turning off 2G waves from September 16; helping customers using 2G phones to grasp information and convert 2G phones to 4G phones.
Through propaganda, people are aware of the practical significance of the policy of converting 2G technology phones to 4G; to facilitate not only daily communication but also to serve the implementation of administrative procedures in the electronic environment, use digital utilities in life... Thanks to that, more and more people proactively follow the State's policy.

At the cultural house of hamlet 2, Hung Thinh commune, Hung Nguyen district, when hearing the announcement on the public address system, many people came to find out and check whether their phones were using 2G or 4G technology to make the switch.
Ms. Dang Thi Nam (Hung Thinh Commune, Hung Nguyen) said: I heard the information but wondered if my current phone was eligible for the conversion from 2G to 4G technology. When Viettel staff explained and checked, I found out that my phone was eligible for the conversion. Luckily, with Viettel's subsidy, I was able to buy a new phone to ensure that communication was not interrupted.
Nearing the "G hour" of 2G shutdown, at Viettel stores, the number of customers switching to 4G phones has increased dramatically in recent days.
Ms. Pham Thi Sen - Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city shared: "At first, when I saw the information about having to change my phone, I was quite worried that the conversion would be difficult and complicated; 4G phones are touch-screen phones that are difficult to use. But at the Viettel store, the staff enthusiastically guided me on how to convert and introduced many types of keyboard phones that can connect to the 4G network, which is very convenient for the elderly. I was completely assured and have used the phone proficiently, the call quality is also better than before."

Identifying the conversion of 2G technology phones to 4G as a key task, from the beginning of 2024, Viettel Nghe An coordinated with units and localities in the province to promote communication work, support people to promptly convert to 4G phones; at the same time, actively and proactively prepare conditions to serve the conversion from 2G technology phones to 4G technology for people in the area.
Accordingly, Viettel will give away free 4G phones to customers who register to buy prepaid packages with a term of 6 months or more, the package price remains unchanged compared to before. In addition, customers who do not want to commit to using the package will still receive a discount of up to 50% when buying some 4G smartphones provided by Viettel. In particular, Viettel also has preferential support policies for poor, near-poor households, and the elderly when buying 4G devices.
In addition, users who successfully switch from 2G to 4G will also receive free high-speed 4G data and use the online TV viewing application... Viettel Nghe An has also invested in increasing nearly 200 4G station locations in 2024 so that 4G coverage is equal to 2G.
With its drastic participation, from the beginning of 2024 until now, Viettel has supported the conversion of more than 100,000 phones from 2G to 4G for Nghe An people. Up to now, the rate of 4G phone usage of Viettel network customers in Nghe An accounts for approximately 90% and is expected to increase rapidly in the coming days.

With the goal of reducing the number of subscribers using 2G phones to less than 5% when 2G is turned off, Viettel continues to implement many activities such as: Diversifying communication forms so that people understand and comply with the State's policy on the roadmap for turning off 2G waves; ensuring adequate supply of 4G technology phones for customers; establishing community digital transformation teams in conjunction with local authorities and mobile sales teams to support customers 24/7; subsidizing phone prices, suitable for customers' payment needs; at the same time supporting 50% of the phone price for customers switching from 2G to 4G, providing the market with low-cost smartphones (about more than 1 million VND)... to help customers conveniently, limiting problems arising during the 2G shutdown process.
Along with supporting customers to upgrade their phones to 4G technology, Viettel Nghe An also identifies 4G network quality as a top priority, therefore, the goal is to broadcast a number of additional 4G BTS stations in the last 4 months of the year, contributing to ensuring the best quality for customers after upgrading the service./.
