Two explosions, occurring just two days apart at the same location in Quyet Tien hamlet, Tam Hop commune (Quy Hop district), continue to shock many residents and victims alike.

Shocked

At approximately 5:30 PM on August 27th, a horrific explosion occurred in Quyet Tien hamlet, Tam Hop commune (Quy Hop district), resulting in the deaths of Mr. Hoang Van Quang (60 years old) and his wife, Mrs. Hoang Thi Huong (53 years old), both residing at the aforementioned address.

But that wasn't all. Two days later (August 29th), while the victim's family was hiring excavators and trucks to clear the scene, a second explosion unexpectedly occurred. The explosion injured the excavator and truck drivers and severely damaged many surrounding houses.

A resident living near the scene of the explosion said that at around 5:30 PM on August 27th, while sitting in front of her house, the grandmother was startled by the explosion. Looking towards the scene, she saw a thick column of smoke rising and heard many screams. Many people immediately ran to the scene. After many people tried calling Mr. Quang and Mrs. Huong on their phones without success, they learned that the two had been injured and immediately rushed inside the house to check on them.

Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered Mr. Quang dead in the kitchen. Later, authorities and local residents conducted a further search and found Mrs. Huong's body a few meters away, covered by concrete slabs and household items.

Some residents living nearby added: During the second explosion, they heard a louder blast and many houses in the surrounding area were damaged. Fortunately, by morning, when authorities arrived to examine the scene and family members were clearing the debris, no further explosions occurred.

Even in the early afternoon, many family members were still clearing debris and belongings from the back of the house. They only went to the front after they managed to hire an excavator. At that time, many people were holding a memorial service for the deceased in front of the house, and the explosion occurred in the back; otherwise, the damage would have been even more catastrophic.

Many locals also said that Mr. Quang and Mrs. Huong's family had three grown children, some working in Vinh and others abroad. Besides farming, Mr. Quang and Mrs. Huong also sold breakfast food. When the first explosion occurred, only the couple were at home.

Following the second explosion, two victims sustained serious injuries: Mr. Hoang Manh Dai (45 years old) - the younger brother of Ms. Hoang Thi Huong, and Mr. Tran Cao Huy (37 years old) - an excavator operator. They were taken by local residents to the Northwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Upon arriving at the hospital, we learned that the two victims were admitted at 5 PM on August 29th with multiple injuries, especially to the face, head, neck, chest, arms, and legs. Among them, Tran Cao Huy suffered the most serious injuries, including blurred vision, a ruptured eardrum, and is currently unable to walk.

Mr. Tran Cao Huy recounted: his house is in Nghia Xuan commune (about 7km away). At around 4 PM, he was sent by the machine owner to the area to operate the machine and clear the debris from the previous explosion. When he arrived, he had just driven the machine in and started clearing for a while when he heard an explosion. Both his vehicle and he were lifted into the air. Sitting inside the car, he felt like he had been electrocuted. Earth and rocks were thrown up and covered the car, and smoke and dust filled the air. Mr. Huy's car windows shattered, and flying debris pierced his eyes and lodged in his chest, arms, and legs.

"At that moment, I couldn't see anything. My only instinct was to crawl out of the car and scream for help. After a while, someone came in, picked me up, and took me to the hospital," Huy recalled.

At that moment, Mr. Hoang Manh Dai was standing behind the excavator. He had just taken one step out from the pile of broken bricks and stones when a deafening explosion rang out, sending rocks and debris flying into his face and body. Fortunately, Mr. Dai was standing behind the excavator, which provided some protection, so he was not seriously injured.

Currently, according to doctors at the Northwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital, although the two victims did not suffer head injuries or internal organ damage, the pressure from the explosion and the impact of debris have severely affected their eyes and ears, requiring further monitoring.

In a related development, today the engineering corps of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command arrived at the scene with various vehicles and technical equipment to search for the explosive device.

To ensure the safety of the surrounding residents, the entire scene was cordoned off, including Mr. and Mrs. Quang's house and six adjacent houses, and all residents living in these houses were evacuated to a safe location. Only after ensuring their safety were the residents allowed to return home.

The incident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
