People in the mountainous town of Nghe An simultaneously dismantled fences to donate land to open roads.
With the determination for "clear roads and airy sidewalks", people in Thach Giam town, the mountainous district of Tuong Duong (Nghe An) have voluntarily dismantled fences, donated land, and contributed labor and money to expand inner-city roads.
Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district has many narrow inner-city roads, some protruding, some receding, making it difficult for people to travel and potentially causing accidents due to limited visibility. For families living deep in the alley, especially those with construction projects, this road is a nightmare. Because the path is so narrow, they have to use wheelbarrows to transport materials inside.
To help people travel conveniently, contributing to making the urban area more spacious and clean, the Party Committee, government, and Fatherland Front of Thach Giam town have mobilized people to participate in urban beautification, focusing on upgrading and repairing inner-city roads, with the motto "The State and the people work together". This policy has been supported by people from all blocks and villages.

Accordingly, these days, dozens of households in Group 10, Hoa Bac block, Thach Giam town have voluntarily moved their fences to donate land to widen the road.
While using a hammer to destroy the fence and gate pillars of his house, Mr. Tran Van Hung, Group 10, Hoa Bac block, Thach Giam town, said that the road leading to Group 10 is narrow and has many bumps and dips. People in the group can only walk or travel by motorbike, but cars are not allowed, so many families with cars have to park their cars. Therefore, his family volunteered to destroy the fence and gate pillars, which are about 20m long, and moved them about 60cm to widen the road for people to travel more conveniently.

“Donating a little land to widen the road not only for myself but also for my children and grandchildren to travel conveniently in the future is the right thing to do. Personally, I feel excited to contribute for the common good of everyone,” Mr. Tran Van Hung shared.
Sharing the same thoughts as Mr. Tran Van Hung's family, Ms. Vu Thi Anh Tuyet's family also volunteered to cut down trees and demolish structures to widen the road. Ms. Tuyet happily shared: "The road has many sections that are only over 1 meter wide, making it difficult to travel, so when we were informed about the policy of donating land to open and straighten the road, my family immediately supported it. Not only did my family donate land, but the families in Group 10 also contributed labor and money to upgrade the road."

“I am also hiring people to break down the fence to move it about 60cm to make a wider road. After the demolition, we have to spend money to rebuild it. The labor and materials for rebuilding will cost about 20 million VND. But it's okay, we will lose a little land and some money, but in return, people will have more convenient travel, a wider and more beautiful road is the right thing to do,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Huong in Group 10, Hoa Bac block, Thach Giam town, excitedly.
In Group 10, there are not only Mr. Hung's family, Ms. Tuyet's family or Ms. Huong's family, but also Ms. Phiu's family, Mr. Diem's family... According to statistics, there are about 15 households that voluntarily donated land to open the road.

Currently, the movement of donating land to expand roads, contributing labor and money to renovate, upgrade and improve infrastructure has spread widely in most of the blocks in Thach Giam town. According to statistics, since the beginning of 2025, the town has been implementing 43 inner-city roads and roads to production areas. Nearly 2km has been renovated and upgraded; 24 households have donated land and contributed money to buy sand and gravel (state-provided cement); people have contributed nearly 1,500 working days. The total estimated cost is nearly 1.5 billion VND.
Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Ngoc - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district said that with the motto "The State and the people work together", donating land to open roads, contributing labor and money to build new and upgrade roads has become a widespread movement in residential areas in the town. Along with donating land to build roads, people also contribute working days to clean up village roads and alleys; dredging canals; renewing and repairing concrete roads, lighting projects, etc.
The right policy, clear objectives, flexible methods, exemplary cadres and party members have contributed to spreading the movement of donating land to open roads in Thach Giam town (Tuong Duong). In the near future, spacious, clean and beautiful roads will help people travel conveniently, opening up many opportunities for people here to develop the economy, improve their material and spiritual life.
