The person behind the PhD degree of singer, Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan
Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan shares about the person who inspired and motivated the female singer to pursue her academic path at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan, born in 1982, became known after winning First Prize in Folk Music at Sao Mai 2005.
After winning the award, Tan Nhan studied at the conservatory, then stayed on to pursue a master's degree, then a doctorate and stayed on to teach. Currently, Tan Nhan is the Head of the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Sharing about the person who motivated and inspired her, Tan Nhan said: “I have had a passion for music since I was young. Since grade 10, I had a strong dream of pursuing music and working in teaching. I had the opportunity to follow Ms. Lan Anh - who is also my cousin - to the conservatory (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music). When I was able to study here, I looked to my teachers to learn and gain more strength. I learned a lot from Ms. Lan Anh, Ms. Thu Lan, People's Artist Thanh Hoa, People's Artist Trung Kien...
Among them, the person that I strive for, follow, and admire is my teacher - People's Artist Trung Kien. His lifestyle is like a compass for all his students, including me. That being an artist is important, but being a teacher is even more important."
According to Tan Nhan, teacher Trung Kien is a talented artist and an exemplary teacher.
“I learned a lot from him, he is a great example in my life. The path he took has become an admiration and a monument for us. He taught us that we may not be able to step out into the world, but we must strive through our teaching to bring our students out into the world,” said Tan Nhan.
Therefore, whether as a singer or a lecturer, Tan Nhan is a perfectionist, difficult, and sets high demands for herself and her students.
People's Artist Trung Kien has always been considered an exemplary teacher, loving his job, devoted to the education career, he is admired by many generations of students, and is an inspiration to many artists such as Trong Tan, Dang Duong, Tan Nhan... People's Artist Trung Kien is the father of musician Quoc Trung. People's Artist Thanh Lam was People's Artist Trung Kien's daughter-in-law for 10 years, when he passed away in early 2021, Thanh Lam wrote about him: "Respectfully loved and deeply missed".
