Mr. Trinh Kien Quoc, son of the wealthy businessman Trinh Van Bo, shared this with the reporter.
Mrs. Hoang Thi Minh Ho was born in 1914 in Hanoi. Her father was Mr. Hoang Dao Phuong, who was both a scholar and a wealthy merchant on Hang Dao Street.
At the age of 18, Ms. Hoang Thi Minh Ho married Mr. Trinh Van Bo, and her parents allowed her to live separately at house number 48 Hang Ngang Street and inherit the Phuc Loi silk trading business.
Driven by their patriotic spirit, and following the success of the August 1945 Revolution, through the introduction of Mr. Vu Dinh Huynh, Mr. and Mrs. Trinh Van Bo dedicated their house at 48 Hang Ngang Street to revolutionary cadres as a workplace.
The merchant couple had no idea that among the delegation of officials staying with their family that year was President Ho Chi Minh, the head of the government. It was during his time in this house that President Ho Chi Minh wrote the immortal Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Just a few days later, in response to the Government's "Gold Week" campaign, the Trinh Van Bo family donated 5,147 taels of gold, while the treasury was empty.
Furthermore, the merchant couple Trinh Van Bo and his wife were key members of the Golden Week fundraising committee, encouraging the business community and the people to donate 20 million Indochinese dong and 370 kg of gold.
