A survey on Finder.com revealed that Americans will spend a staggering $17.3 billion on activities on February 14th. Nearly half of those surveyed said they would buy gifts for their loved ones using credit cards.
Unsurprisingly, more men than women plan their Valentine's Day shopping, with 52% of men compared to 44% of women, according to SILive.com.
While some people spend their money on gifts using bank cards, others take the time to make gifts for their loved ones themselves, such as assembling roses using origami techniques, creating collage albums, and so on.
Of course, Americans don't forget their pets on this day. While they may not receive typical gifts like chocolate or flowers, owners will choose special toys, treat their pets to delicious food, dress them up, or take them to the spa, for example.
Finder.com found that Americans will spend $753.87 million on furry family members, with $489.48 million on pet dogs and $264.39 million on cats.
