On November 19, 2021, the Thai Hoa Town Police announced that, under the direct guidance of the Provincial Police leadership, the Thai Hoa Town Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province and other relevant units, successfully dismantled the largest gambling ring ever uncovered in Thai Hoa town, involving lottery betting using high-tech equipment.

Accordingly, from the beginning of July 2021, through information from the public and investigative work, the Thai Hoa Town Police discovered a gambling ring operating in the form of lottery betting led by Vu Thi Ha Phuong (born in 1978), residing in Quang Tien Ward, Thai Hoa Town.
Recognizing this as a particularly large and professional gambling ring, the town's police directly reported the matter and sought guidance from the provincial police leaders. Simultaneously, they established a special task force and coordinated with relevant units to combat it.Solving the case.

After a period of monitoring, gathering, and consolidating evidence, at approximately 7 PM on November 16, 2021, the Thai Hoa Town Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province and other relevant units, simultaneously launched an operation to arrest and conduct urgent searches of the residences of 13 individuals residing in Thai Hoa Town and Nghia Dan District. The seized items included 241 million VND in cash, 40 mobile phones, 15 ATM cards, and 2 packets of marijuana.

During the investigation, the suspects admitted to their crimes. Initial findings revealed that on November 16, 2021, they used over 1 billion VND for gambling. On average, they used between 800 million and 1 billion VND per day for gambling, with an estimated total of over 100 billion VND from the beginning of July 2021 to November 16, 2021.
