A woman bathing in the river had leeches crawl into her nose.
Admitted to the hospital with difficulty breathing, Ms. Yen never imagined a 10 cm long leech had crawled into her nose after swimming in the river two days earlier.
The Huong Khe District General Hospital (Ha Tinh province) reported that they recently removed a leech from the nostril of 36-year-old Ho Thi Yen, a resident of Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province, using an endoscopic procedure. The patient's health is now normal.
Ms. Yen was admitted to the hospital with difficulty breathing and a nosebleed. After X-rays and tests, doctors discovered a live leech, about the size of a chopstick and 10 cm long, crawling inside her nose.
According to patient Yen, two days ago she went swimming in the river. When she got home, she felt itchy and had a very uncomfortable sensation of something moving around in her nose, but she didn't think it was leeches. Only when her nose became swollen and painful did she go to the doctor.

A 7cm-long leech lived in an elderly woman's nose for nearly two months.
