The cow-raising model was first implemented by Ms. Vo Y Do's family in Luu Thong village and up to now many households have also applied it effectively. |
In her story, Vu Y Do shared: After starting a family, she and her husband moved out to live on their own with a few fields that their parents had given them. Due to a lack of capital and production techniques and not knowing how to do business, at first, her family's life encountered countless difficulties. To escape poverty, she and her husband were determined to develop the economy from a model of growing and raising livestock. Realizing that the special plants and animals of her ethnic group were especially popular with consumers, Vu Y Do boldly expanded the area for growing taro, squash, etc. At the same time, they intercropped short-term crops under the canopy of the forest during the period when they had not yet spread, such as pineapples and various green vegetables, to sell for additional income.
With diligence, hard work and the desire to escape poverty, Vu Y Do also brought high-yield corn and rice varieties to grow. Every year, her family harvests over 10 tons of corn, which is sold to earn money for family living and to ensure the service of raising cows. Her family is also one of the pioneers in the movement of raising cows in captivity. This model is really economically effective, has many outstanding advantages compared to traditional free-range cow raising, saves time and costs for grazing, ensures a source of clean grass for cows, and preserves the village environment.
