What do successful people do during their lunch break?
They leave their desks, turn off their phones, have lunch, or take a quick read and exercise to get ready for the afternoon.
1. Leave your desk.
Even if they have urgent work that requires them to work through lunchtime, they still try to leave their desks for at least a few minutes. Michael Kerr, an international business speaker, says: "In the worst-case scenario, if you have to work during your lunch break, choosing a different location can at least help you change the atmosphere, your perspective, and even generate new ideas."
2. Build relationships
Aim to have lunch with different people in your company at least once a week. Whether it's to get acquainted or maintain relationships, "You're sure to learn something new from them, maybe make friends or even get a new mentor," says Ryan Kahn, founder of the recruitment consulting firm The Hired Group.
3. Lunch

Many people skip lunch because they're too busy or don't feel hungry. However, refueling at this time is essential. On LiveStrong.com, Carly Schuna states: "Eating midday, a few hours after breakfast, will give your body an extra energy boost, raising blood sugar levels as your concentration levels begin to decline. This will help you be ready for the next few hours of work."
4. Training
Exercising during your lunch break will boost your energy and sense of accomplishment for the rest of the afternoon. "Regular exercise, in addition to improving your health, also reduces stress and improves concentration. These are all positive effects on your work," Kahn said.
5. They evaluated the morning's work.
Lunchtime is the ideal time to assess what you've accomplished during the day, Kerr says. If you struggled in the morning, remind yourself that you can "restart" in the afternoon, and prepare yourself with a positive mindset.
6. Read books
Successful people don't answer emails or read work reports at lunchtime. Instead, they read newspapers, blogs, and books. This helps them relax after work and brings them a feeling of joy and refreshment.
7. Complete some personal tasks.
They can use this time to make phone calls, make plans, write thank-you notes, or do any other personal things, of course, after lunch.
8. Do what you love.
Successful people also use this time to do things like meet friends, go shopping, or go to the park. These are like mini-vacations, helping them relax and change their mood before returning to work.
9. Stop using electronic devices.
Many people prefer to turn off all electronic devices to enjoy a quiet lunchtime.
10. Plan for the afternoon.
After their lunch break, they can use a few minutes to plan their work for the afternoon. This will help them be more proactive and prepared when they return to their desks.
