Vietnamese people spend $481 million USD importing cars every month.

Over the past 11 months, the value of automobile imports into our country reached 5.3 billion USD, including components and spare parts, with complete automobiles accounting for 2.579 billion USD.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the past 11 months, automobile imports reached US$5.3 billion, a 60% increase compared to the same period in 2014. This means that, on average, Vietnamese people spent US$481 million per month importing automobile products (including components and spare parts).

In the structure of automobile imports over the past 11 months, the import of completely assembled cars increased by 91% (cars with fewer than 9 seats increased by 46.1%) compared to the same period in 2014. The value of completely assembled car imports in the 11 months was equivalent to 2.579 billion USD, with a quantity of 112,000 units. This import level increased by nearly 83% in quantity and 91% in value compared to the same period in 2014.

Compared to recent years, the rate of car imports into Vietnam in the past 11 months has increased sharply in both quantity and value. Specifically, in 2014, Vietnam spent 1.57 billion USD importing 72,000 cars, and in 2013, it was 709 million USD for nearly 34,500 cars. Therefore, imports in the first 11 months of this year alone have exceeded those of both 2013 and 2014 combined.
