Who is the talented and beautiful wife of the Canadian Prime Minister?

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was born on April 24, 1975, in Sainte-Adèle, Quebec, and grew up in the town of Mount Royal. She is an only child to Jean Grégoire, a stockbroker, and Estelle Blais, a former nurse. Sophie graduated with a degree in communications from the prestigious McGill University in Montreal. She worked for a newspaper before becoming a presenter for a local television channel. She then became a reporter for ETalk, Canada's largest entertainment program.

Sophie officially met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in June 2002 when they co-hosted the Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix to raise money for the children's charity Starlight. She later told Canada's Chatalaine: "We laughed, chatted, and realized there was a special connection. I knew then that this was the person I needed to seriously consider."

A few days later, Sophie emailed Trudeau, but he wasn't ready for a serious relationship and didn't reply. But fate intervened. They unexpectedly met again that summer, and Trudeau began to ask her out. They dined at a restaurant and went to a bar where they sang Elton John and Beatles songs karaoke in a private room. At the end of the day, Justin Trudeau whispered to her, "You've come to me. 32 years have passed, and now I'm starting to think about you – the one I thought would never appear. I'll wait for you my whole life."

The handsome Canadian Prime Minister once revealed to Chatelaine that he knew Sophie "was the woman for him" from their very first date.

Their fairytale wedding took place in May 2005.

Also in 2005, when discussing Trudeau's potential for a political career, Sophie suggested that it might be a path forward, but it might not be. However, she believed in her husband's integrity, sincerity, and excellent judgment, despite his occasional sensitivity.

Sophie has been by her husband's side in all his activities since Trudeau was elected prime minister in 2015, from accompanying him to visits with world leaders like Barack and Michelle Obama, greeting Prince William and his wife when they visited Canada, to meeting Queen Elizabeth II. She sometimes even accompanies him to film premieres.

After 12 years of marriage, the couple had two sons and one daughter.

Sophie is very involved in charitable activities related to women's rights, mental health, and efforts to bring clean water to people.
