(Baonghean.vn) - Agile, enthusiastic, energetic, and always "sticking with the team and wading through the fields" - these are the comments of the people of Hamlet 3, Long Son Commune (Anh Son District) about Hamlet Head Nguyen Van Nam.

In 2009, Mr. Tran Van Nam was elected village head by the villagers at the young age of 27. With the energy and leadership of a young Party member, throughout his 7 years of service in the village, Mr. Tran Van Nam always believed that to gain the people's trust and respect, he himself had to be a role model and lead by example.

In his work, he was fair and impartial, while also striving to learn from the experience of those who came before him about how to mobilize and educate the villagers to unite, work together, maintain security and order, stabilize their lives, and develop the economy. Because he was trusted, respected, and followed by the people, all movements and campaigns were actively implemented by the villagers.

Previously, with 12 hectares of rice land, the villagers had to cultivate in six different areas, but now they only have to cultivate in two areas, Cua Co and Dong Ngoai, which is very convenient for introducing mechanization into production. This is truly a "land revolution" in the village. Mr. Nam shared: "To gain the villagers' support, the conversion was implemented quite systematically, from propaganda to change their awareness, to developing conversion plans, and ensuring transparency and democracy in the allocation of funds and the volume of excavation and construction work for roads, embankments, and field boundaries so that the people could discuss the implementation plan."

Furthermore, mobilizing villagers to build roads was also a major effort on his part. The people here mainly rely on agriculture, so mobilizing resources was very difficult. With determination, Mr. Nam raised the issue of road construction at many Party branch meetings to work with Party members to find the most effective and economical solutions. Following the principle of the state and the people working together, in 2015, each household in the village contributed 1,700,000 VND in cash, and together they excavated and filled 12,000 cubic meters of earth. Five households donated 1,500 square meters of land to pave a 520-meter section of road with concrete. In addition, he also mobilized villagers to contribute 50% of the construction and renovation costs for the village's cultural center.

Sharing his experience in mobilizing people to participate in building new rural areas, Mr. Nam said: "In the new rural area construction program, the village organized many meetings from mass organizations and Party branches to village-wide meetings to publicize the role and significance of the program. For individuals who still had questions, we would go to their homes to explain and clarify. If they didn't understand the first time, we would go a second or third time. With perseverance, success is achieved. In addition, I made all activities and contributions public so that the villagers could know, discuss, and check them, so the people trusted me. Especially, the village regularly highlighted and praised exemplary individuals to encourage and motivate people to follow suit, creating a vibrant emulation movement throughout the village."

Thanks to the tireless efforts of village head Tran Van Nam and the unity of the people, for many years, the security and order situation in Village 3, Long Son Commune, has been stable. The people are confident in developing production, their living standards are improving, the poverty rate in the village is decreasing, the average income of the people reaches 20 million VND/year; the rate of culturally exemplary families reaches 85%; and the rate of sports-oriented families reaches 90%. This has contributed to making Village 3 a shining example and a leader in the locality in all emulation movements.
