| Passionflower is primarily harvested as a whole plant, including the leaves, so fruiting is discouraged. This is the fruit of the passionflower. It's called a cluster fruit because the fruit is enclosed in a net-like shell. Passionflower has sedative, antipyretic, and liver-cooling properties; it treats headaches and insomnia, often in combination with other medicinal herbs. Some sources indicate that passionflower fruit can be brewed into a decoction to treat dysentery; passionflower leaves can be boiled in water for bathing and washing to treat dermatitis, boils, and scabies.
