Former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong passed away
Former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong has just passed away in his hometown of Ben Tre, at the age of 79.
On the morning of February 19, former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong passed away due to old age in his hometown of Ben Tre, at the age of 79.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong was born on November 11, 1942, in Binh Hoa commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province. Ben Tre people often call him by the name Hai Nghia.
From 1960, he began to secretly work in the student movement against the Ngo Dinh Diem regime. In 1962, he left his family, joined the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and worked at the Education Subcommittee of Ben Tre province.

He was then elected as a member of the Provincial Party Committee in charge of the Propaganda Department of Ben Tre Province. In 1968, he was appointed as a member of the Propaganda Department of Ben Tre Province.
In 1978, he was elected to the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, holding the position of Deputy Head of the Provincial Propaganda Department. In 1982, he was elected to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and was assigned to be Secretary of the Giong Trom District Party Committee. During this time, he attended a training course for District Party Secretaries at the Moscow Advanced Party School (Soviet Union).
At the 6th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1986), he was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee.
At the 7th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1991), he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and a member of the Central Inspection Commission. In February 1998, he was appointed as Head of the Central Internal Political Protection Commission.
In July 2000, he was assigned to join the Standing Committee of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and was elected Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee.
At the 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in early 2001, he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and elected to the Party Central Committee Secretariat. In April 2001, he was assigned to hold the position of Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.
At the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2006, he was once again re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee, elected to the Politburo and the Secretariat.
On June 28, 2006, the Vietnamese National Assembly approved the proposal to appoint him as Deputy Prime Minister.
In August 2011, the National Assembly approved his dismissal from the position of Deputy Prime Minister due to retirement.
He was also a delegate to the Vietnamese National Assembly for the 8th, 11th and 12th terms.
After retirement, he lived in his hometown in Giong Trom district, Ben Tre./.
