Therefore, despite the final race being disrupted by spectators shouting, forcing a restart, Nguyen Thi Huyen maintained her confidence on the track. She quickly took the lead, overtaking formidable competitors from India, Kazakhstan, and Japan to cross the finish line, leaving her rivals far behind.
With a time of 56.14 seconds, Nguyen Thi Huyen secured Vietnam's second gold medal at this year's Asian Athletics Championships. She finished 1.08 seconds ahead of runner-up Anu of host country India (57.22 seconds).
Yesterday's achievement also helped Nguyen Thi Huyen break the national record in the women's 400m hurdles, a record she previously set at the 28th SEA Games in 2015 in Singapore - 56.15 seconds.
The gold medal at the 2017 Asian Championships was a significant milestone marking Nguyen Thi Huyen's strong return to the ranks of Vietnam's best track and field athletes.

Returning after her success at the SEA Games two years ago, she lost form and was even excluded from the list of athletes prioritized for investment by the Vietnamese sports sector. However, Nguyen Thi Huyen then actively trained to prove her abilities. Recently, at the Singapore Open, she won the gold medal with a time of 56.66 seconds.
Tonight, on the final day of the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships, Vietnam will compete in the women's 4x400m relay final, with its strongest lineup including Nguyen Thi Huyen, Quach Thi Lan, Hoang Thi Ngoc, and Nguyen Thi Oanh. Huyen, Lan, and Oanh previously helped Vietnam win the gold medal in this event at the 28th SEA Games.
