Former Politburo member and former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 17, 2018 in his hometown of Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Officials' Health, former Politburo member and former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 17, 2018 in his hometown of Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City.

Comrade Phan Van Khai was born on December 25, 1933; hometown is Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City.

As one of the senior leaders of the Party and State in the early stages of the country's Renovation and Development, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai was an active and determined person in building institutions in the spirit of innovation, promoting the capacity of all economic sectors, especially the private economy, along with opening up and international integration.

During nearly two terms of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, fundamental laws in the early period of the renovation and opening process were built.

The term of the Government under Prime Minister Phan Van Khai was marked by the promulgation of the Enterprise Law and the abolition of hundreds of types of "mother licenses" and "child licenses"; and the going through many rounds of tough negotiations in the process of Vietnam joining the WTO...

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai was awarded the Gold Star Order and the 55-year Party membership badge (in 2014) by the Party and State in recognition of his contributions to the revolutionary cause./.
