(Baonghean.vn) - To prepare for the 2021 Southeast Asian U18 Championship, coach Philippe Troussier has announced the list of 38 players who will train with the Vietnam U18 team for the tournament. The list does not include Nguyen Van Bach, a midfielder from the SLNA youth academy.
Having captained the SLNA U17 team (2020) and SLNA U19 team (2021), Nguyen Van Bach was not called up to the Vietnam U19 team. This is the second consecutive time the young player from Yen Thanh has been "overlooked" by coach Philippe Troussier. In contrast, teammates such as Nguyen Canh Tiep, Trinh Hoang Canh, Dinh Xuan Tien, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Cong Huy, and Phan Xuan Dai have had that honor.

Although his performance wasn't outstanding, Nguyen Van Bach's contributions to SLNA U19's third-place finish were immense, especially in his defensive role.
Nguyen Van Bach's strength, enthusiasm, and effectiveness from behind allowed Dinh Xuan Tien to feel more comfortable in his role as a "conductor." It's no exaggeration to say that, in the U17 or U19 teams of SLNA, Nguyen Van Bach was like a "launching pad" for his teammate Dinh Xuan Tien to soar high, freely and comfortably showcase his talent.

Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper, coach Le Manh Hung, currently working at the SLNA training academy, said: "The reason Nguyen Van Bach is not in coach Philippe Troussier's plans is because he doesn't fit the short-passing style of play of the current Vietnam U18 team. Therefore, players with skillful individual techniques will be prioritized over players with a playing style that relies more on strength like Nguyen Van Bach."
Hopefully, after not receiving a call-up from coach Philippe Troussier, Nguyen Van Bach will work even harder to improve himself. In any case, Nguyen Van Bach still has a bright future ahead of him.
