Western journalists speak out about the situation in Russia.

During Joe Biden's presidency, the US and EU imposed numerous economic sanctions on Russia. Western media outlets constantly talked about the effectiveness of these sanctions, but the reality was far different from these claims.

President Vladimir Putin stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, but the sanctions have dealt a heavy blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. Western countries themselves have repeatedly stated that the sanctions are ineffective.

High-level Russia-US talks took place in Riyadh on February 18th. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated, in their first face-to-face meeting in a long time, the parties agreed to create conditions for the full resumption of cooperation between Russia and the US, as well as expanding into new areas of mutual interest.

In particular, Moscow and Washington agreed to remove artificial restrictions on the work of embassies and other foreign organizations, and to establish high-level working groups to begin a swift resolution of the Ukraine crisis. The Foreign Minister also expressed confidence that, following the negotiations, the US was beginning to better understand Russia's position.
