Where is the North-South high-speed railway station through Nghe An located?
This is a question that many people have been asking in recent days, when the Pre-Feasibility Study Report of the North-South High-Speed Railway Project was released.
According to the Pre-Feasibility Study Report of the North-South High-Speed Railway Project, by the consulting consortium TEDI - TRICC - TEDI SOUTH, the high-speed railway line is expected to pass through Nghe An and 19 provinces and cities with a length of 1,541km, with 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations. Of which, Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi) and Vung Ang station (Ha Tinh) will be both passenger and freight stations, so in total there will only be 26 stations.

The arrangement of passenger terminals will be carried out according to the following principles: Consistent with the current status and development planning of the locality; located in the economic and political center of the locality, approaching the urban center, the planning area has the potential to create new development space, effectively exploiting land resources (from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, there are 19 urban areas with a population of 500,000 or more, including 2 special urban areas and 17 type I urban areas); ensuring good connectivity with the public transport system; ensuring effective exploitation of infrastructure and vehicles.

According to the research report, the project will start at Ngoc Hoi station, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, including a plan to organize train operations so that the high-speed railway can run to Hanoi station. The final point for passenger trains is Thu Thiem station, An Phu ward, Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh city; for freight trains, the final point is Trang Bom station, Dong Nai province.

In Nghe An, the high-speed railway line, after passing Mong Ga mountain, the border area between Nghi Son town (Thanh Hoa) and Hoang Mai town, enters Nghe An province. Then, the basic line runs parallel to the east of the expressway. When passing through Cau Giat area (Quynh Luu), the line tends to run close to the current railway, passes Than Vu mountain, and goes to the west of Vinh bypass.

Since Nghe An is only allowed to have one passenger station, the station will be located in the west of Vinh City, between the expressway and the current Vinh bypass. The route will then cross the Lam River and enter Ha Tinh province.

According to information from the Nghe An Department of Transport, Vinh station on the North-South high-speed railway will be located between the expressway and Vinh bypass. At the same time, it will be located between National Highway 46 and 72m road, in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district. This is a key area, connecting many key traffic routes, serving the socio-economic development of the province. This area is also close to the intersection between the North-South expressway and National Highway 46; close to VSIP Industrial Park and urban area; about 4.7km from the current Vinh station.

From the station location, passengers can move to the center of Vinh City and go straight to Cua Lo along the 72m road or along National Highway 46. If this project is implemented, it will certainly create momentum for local economic and social development.
