North Korean state news agency KCNA reported on December 29 that leader Kim Jong-un announced a strategy of the "toughest counterattack" against the United States, as well as promoting the development of relations with friendly countries.
KCNA reported that such a statement was made at the 11th plenary session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, held from December 23 to 27. The session reviewed the results of 2024 and discussed state tasks to be addressed in 2025.
According to KCNA, the plenary session also outlined the country's strategic goals to ensure the "foreign phase of the Korean revolution" through proactive foreign policy actions.
KCNA reported: “In the final part of his speech, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un clarified the toughest possible response strategy against the United States that North Korea must actively initiate for its long-term national interests and security.”
According to the agency, the North Korean leader outlined, within the framework of his strategy, a task in foreign affairs to actively fight to protect national sovereignty based on the principle of safeguarding state interests. The counter-strategy also includes actively promoting relations with friendly countries.
