(Baonghean.vn) - Rice storage is a unique cultural feature of the Mong ethnic group in Nghe An. After each harvest, when the rice grains from the fields are brought home, the Mong people repair or build new rice storage sheds for their families.

The Hmong people's rice storage sheds can be built right in the fields or at home, but the main purpose is to prevent rats from damaging the rice. Each shed lasts for decades, so after the harvest, the villagers usually repair the roof. The shed is about 4 meters wide.2 They are made from good quality wood gathered from the forest and placed 1-1.5 meters above the ground.

This year, Mr. Va Ba Mai (Tham Hin village – Nam Can – Ky Son) chose larger timbers to ensure the rice paddy house would last a long time.

Palm leaves are the primary material used by locals to roof rice storage sheds.
4
The warehouse floor is supported by thick, strong wooden planks.
5
The floorboards are made of a type that does not shrink so that the rice does not spill out.
7
Larger planks of wood were chosen to enclose the area completely.
9
Roofing is a relatively simple task, so women can also participate and help.
10
Grain storage facilities are often set up along the roadside.
