The White House declined to comment on reports of Tesla's plans to build a factory in China, but urged American companies to invest in the United States.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders

"We want all American companies to invest here. I won't comment specifically on Tesla, but we encourage all companies to build their factories here in America," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said at a press briefing.

She once again accused China of engaging in unfair trade practices and urged American companies not to "do business with such countries."

Previously, Bloomberg, citing its own sources, reported that US-based Tesla was planning to allocate $5 billion to build a factory in China amid escalating trade tensions between the United States and China, while the company also expected to raise some funds in China.
