Nha Trang: Authorities investigate incident where bar employee threatened foreign tourist with a shovel.
Authorities in Nha Trang City are investigating an incident in which a BB bar employee threatened international tourists with a shovel, negatively impacting the local tourism image.
Leaders of the Nha Trang Ward People's Committee, Khanh Hoa province, said they have requested the police to urgently investigate the incident in which two foreign tourists were threatened with a shovel by a bar employee. The incident occurred on the evening of December 31, 2025, in the Nha Trang beach park area, causing public outrage after images were widely shared.
The events unfolded in the beach area.
According to initial information, the individuals who threatened the customers were employees of BB Bar, a business located on Nha Trang beach. A nearly 1 minute 30 second video clip recorded by a local resident shows a heated argument between the group of uniformed employees and two foreigners.
Notably, during the tense moment, an employee suddenly grabbed a shovel and threatened the group of tourists right in the middle of an area crowded with locals and visitors. Meanwhile, the two foreign tourists repeatedly retaliated with aggressive actions, creating a chaotic scene at the beach park.

Causes of conflict
Regarding the incident, a representative from BB bar confirmed the event and stated that it stemmed from the behavior of the group of customers. According to the bar, the two foreign customers had consumed a significant amount of alcohol, entered the bar without permission, and sat at the same table with two Vietnamese female customers who were already present.
The unexpected situation frightened the two female customers, causing them to leave. Restaurant staff then approached them to remind them not to disturb others. However, during the process, some staff members acted inappropriately, including threatening the customers with a shovel, which was offensive.
Handling accountability and protecting the tourism image.
Representatives from BB bar acknowledged that the employee's behavior was inappropriate and negatively impacted the local tourism image. Following the incident, the establishment issued a warning to the employee directly involved with the shovel and reprimanded the individuals involved. The owner also personally met with and apologized to the group of foreign tourists.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to handle it according to the law. Strictly addressing uncivilized behavior in tourism aims to ensure security and order, while maintaining Nha Trang's image as a friendly and safe destination for international tourists.
