(Baonghean.vn) - Visitors returning to the old thatched house where the old man of Ben Ngu was born and raised can now fulfill their wish to light incense in remembrance of the patriotic scholar Phan Boi Chau at the newly completed, spacious memorial house. The Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site in his hometown has become worthy of being a National Historical and Cultural Monument thanks to socialized capital from younger generations who always admire Phan Boi Chau.
| The Phan Boi Chau Memorial Area is located in Nam Dan Town (formerly Sa Nam village), Nam Dan District. This is the birthplace and the place closely associated with the early years of the patriotic scholar Phan Boi Chau. It covers an area of over 5000 square meters.2It includes three main attractions: the house of Phan Boi Chau's family, the memorial house, and the exhibition house displaying artifacts related to Phan Boi Chau's revolutionary life and activities. |
| Previously, many visitors to the historical site wanted to enter and offer incense to commemorate the patriotic scholar, but were often restricted. The reason was that the site was a thatched hut, so for safety reasons, visitors could only stand and bow from afar, not light incense. |
| In response to this legitimate and urgent need, a dedicated and passionate fundraising campaign within the community of former students of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School and those who admire Phan Boi Chau raised nearly 2 billion VND to build the memorial house. On August 11, 2015, amidst the joy and reverence of many generations of people in Nghe An, the Phan Boi Chau Memorial House officially commenced construction. |
| To date, after more than a year of construction, the project has been completed and will be officially inaugurated on October 29th, coinciding with the 76th anniversary of the death of the patriotic scholar Phan Boi Chau. |
| The three-bay, two-aisle house with four rows of pillars serves as a shrine to Phan Boi Chau, and also allows visitors to light incense, pay respects, and learn about his life and career. |
| The memorial building is constructed in the traditional architectural style with four gabled roofs, tiled with curved roof tiles, steps paved with Thanh Hoa blue stone, and a floor paved with ceramic tiles. |
| The main entrance to the memorial house is made of rosewood. The windows at both gable ends are in the shape of a round "longevity" character and are plastered in the traditional style. |
| The frame and trusses are made of load-bearing Cam Xe wood, and the walls are constructed of brick. |
| All the wooden details are meticulously and skillfully crafted by artisans from Nam Dinh. |
| All the ritual objects have been fully prepared and arranged respectfully. |
| On a daily basis, the Management Board of the historical site assigns personnel to sweep and clean the memorial house and maintain the grounds of the site to serve visiting tourists. |
| Trimming trees and hedges, tilling flowerbeds – the final preparations for the inauguration ceremony are being completed in a hurry. |
The successful construction of the Phan Boi Chau Memorial House is a continuation of the tradition of honoring one's roots among former students of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School. The project also reflects the heartfelt contributions of many benefactors who admire and respect a distinguished figure who made significant contributions to the revolution. This will serve as a significant landmark contributing to the revolutionary spirit education of the younger generation and will be one of the attractive destinations for tourists visiting Nam Dan. |
