The gold medal in martial arts on the morning of August 20 was the second time Phuong Giang stood on the highest podium at the regional sports festival. In the joy of bringing glory to the Fatherland, she dedicated a special word of gratitude to her father who passed away a year ago.

The female boxer from Hanoi believes that the SEA Games gold medal is a worthy late gift for him. "My father passed away a year ago," Phuong Giang tearfully shared with VnExpress. "Before my father passed away, I was preparing to participate in a tournament and expected to have an achievement to show my father, but I didn't have time. With this gold medal, I think I can bring it back to my father."

"Thank you dad," Huong Giang said, wiping away tears.

Huong Giang said her father was her inspiration and motivation to pursue wushu. In the past, her mother was afraid that her daughter would have a hard time, so she strongly opposed it, but her father supported her and often drove her to practice 12 km away from home, regardless of rain or shine.

In the Kunjutsu test on the morning of August 20, Phuong Giang scored 9.64 points, 0.01 points higher than her home opponent Ying Ting Loh.At the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, Phuong Giang won the Long Boxing event.

Speaking after winning the second gold medal for the Vietnamese team, Phuong Giang still appeared "unsatisfied" at only winning by a margin of 0.01 points."A narrow victory brings greater joy but I want a safe victory with a bigger margin," said Phuong Giang.

At the age of 25, the 29th SEA Games gold medal is also a personal gift for Phuong Giang as many of her contemporaries have become coaches. "Wushu has brought me so much," she shared.

For Phuong Giang, wushu is not simply a martial art but an art. That is also her message to those who want to learn and practice wushu.
