Composer Do Hieu announces ban on Noo Phuoc Thinh singing 8 of his hit songs.

Composer Do Hieu said that there are 8 songs:Forever Together, Wipe Away the Tears, Hold Me Tonight, Don't Look Back, Coming Together Was a Mistake, Cause I Love You, Please Don't Let GoandLike the very first momentReleased between 2014 and 2018. Singer Noo Phuoc Thinh signed an exclusive contract to exploit and use the song for two years.

After the aforementioned deadline, Noo Phuoc Thinh's side did not proceed with renewing the old contract or negotiating or renegotiating the copyright fees.

According to Do Hieu, over the years, Noo Phuoc Thinh only contacted them to request permission to perform at large shows, ignoring many smaller shows at venues such as bars, clubs, and lounges.

Furthermore, the singer also commercially exploited these works on several online platforms not included in the original agreement, without notifying the author.

Initially, musician Do Hieu proactively contacted singer Noo Phuoc Thinh and his manager, but received only silence in return, making him feel disrespected. When the incident came to light, both sides attempted negotiations but failed to reach a common ground.

"I always hope for harmony, but both sides must respect each other. One side shouldn't consider itself superior and refuse to respond clearly. I am grateful to the artists who successfully perform my works, but that doesn't mean anyone should profit from or get rich from those intellectual creations while the 'creators' are not guaranteed anything or receive anything in return," he told VietNamNet.

Therefore, Do Hieu decided to ban singer Noo Phuoc Thinh from exploiting or using these 8 songs from November 1, 2023. Any unauthorized exploitation or use will be considered a copyright violation.

Do Hieu added that since the contracts with singer Noo Phuoc Thinh expired, many singers and companies have contacted him to buy the rights to exploit and use his music, even to buy exclusive rights.

"I carefully considered everything to ensure fairness and integrity, but without being at a disadvantage or becoming someone who has to remind or beg to get things that rightfully belong to me. I gave myself time to think, rather than waiting for anyone," the musician stated.

When contacted, singer Noo Phuoc Thinh's manager stated: "Due to the unexpected nature of the event, we are not ready to comment on anything yet and are preparing to issue an official statement as soon as possible."
