Musician Hoang Van has passed away.
Conductor Le Phi Phi just announced that his father - musician Hoang Van just passed away at 4:30 am on February 4 at his home at the age of 88.

Conductor Le Phi Phi - son of musician Hoang Van, is living and working in Macedonia. He was not present when his father passed away. "My father passed away in his sleep. This is sad news for the family. I will be in Vietnam in the next 2 days to take care of my father's affairs," said the conductor.
Musician Hoang Van, real name Le Van Ngo. He was born on July 24, 1930 in an intellectual family in Hanoi. Having studied music theory since a very young age, Hoang Van composed his first works at the age of 15.
Like his contemporaries, musician Hoang Van's musical career was closely linked to the upheavals of national history through two resistance wars against the French and the Americans.
At the age of 16, he joined the Mai Hac De Youth National Salvation Team, was a liaison officer for the self-defense force of the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc area in Hanoi, and then became the head of the Cadet Corps of the 165th Regiment, Division 312. After that, he joined the Armed Propaganda Team, did journalism and enemy agitation work for the regiment and division, and was in charge of arts and culture at Division 312.
He was then sent to the Central Conservatory of Music in China to study. Returning home after 6 years of studying, the former Dien Bien soldier became the conductor of the Voice of Vietnam music band and art director, and also taught composition and arrangement at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music until 1989.

During his time teaching at the school, he was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Musicians' Association, head of the vocal composition department and worked at the Association until 1996. In 1975, he interned for a period at the Sofia Conservatory of Music, Bulgaria.
For his contributions to the country's music industry, musician Hoang Van was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in 2000. Twelve years later, he was awarded the title of Distinguished Citizen of the Capital.
Musician Hoang Van's wife is a doctor. They have two children, conductor Le Phi Phi and Ms. Le Y Linh, a doctor of music in France.
Musician Hoang Van is a contributor and has many works performed at the concert program "What remains forever" organized by VietNamNet newspaper for many years at noon on September 2nd every year.
