Diva Thanh Lam was awarded the title of People's Artist in the 10th awarding ceremony. The singer, born in 1969, is considered a pioneer, playing a crucial role in shaping the direction of Vietnamese light music from the early 1990s.
She influenced subsequent generations of successful singers such as My Linh, Dam Vinh Hung, Tung Duong, Hoang Quyen... Thanh Lam was also the first independent singer to be awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State.
Thanh Lam was born into a family with a strong artistic tradition. She is the daughter of musician Thuan Yen and traditional Vietnamese string instrument artist Thanh Huong. From the age of three, her father taught her to sing and play the piano. At seven, her mother taught her to play the zither and sing Vietnamese folk songs.
At the age of 9, Thanh Lam studied the pipa at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music), while also singing in the Nightingale group of the Voice of Vietnam Radio and the Nightingale group at the Hanoi Children's Cultural Palace.
In 1985, Thanh Lam stopped studying the pipa (Chinese lute) and switched to studying vocal music. She and Quoc Trung are a famous duo in Vietnamese pop music. Not only do they support each other in their personal lives, but they also flourish in their artistic careers. With Quoc Trung's support, Thanh Lam has solidified her irreplaceable position in Vietnamese music.
Besides her fiery voice, Thanh Lam impresses audiences with her striking and vibrant beauty. She is described as having "expressive" eyes, full of emotion and intensity.
Thanh Lam is a singer with a unique and distinctive fashion style. She often appears in brightly colored jackets and loose, patterned dresses.

Currently, Thanh Lam enjoys a happy marriage with her third husband, Dr. Tien Hung. After three years together, the couple lives harmoniously and devotedly.
