Former judge expelled from the Party for accepting bribes to influence court cases.
A former judge in Ca Mau has been expelled from the Party for allegedly accepting bribes to influence court cases…
On September 6th, the Party Committee of the People's Government of Ca Mau province issued a disciplinary decision against Mr. Nguyen Chi Van, former judge and former Chief Judge of the Civil Court of the People's Court of Ca Mau province, in the form of expulsion from the Party.
Mr. Van was expelled from the Party for "violating the rules that Party members are not allowed to break, violating professional ethics..."
According to investigations, while still in office, although Mr. Van was not assigned to preside over the case, this official "made an agreement" with the litigant appealing the property dispute to analyze the case file and promised to help win the lawsuit for 50 million VND.
After receiving the full amount, Mr. Van continued to demand an additional 60 million VND from the litigant for legal fees to verify information and strengthen the appeal file.
Suspecting they had been scammed, the person who gave the money reported Mr. Van, and the official returned 50 million VND.
The police are currently investigating this incident.
