Vietnam spent over $4.55 billion importing electrical wires and cables in 2025, a sharp increase of 33.7% compared to the previous year. China maintained its position as the number one supplier with a 68.4% market share.

According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's import value of electrical wires and cables is expected to reach over US$4.55 billion in 2025, a 33.7% increase compared to 2024. This is an impressive growth rate amidst strong increases in demand for power grid infrastructure and industrial production.

In December 2025 alone, the import value of this product group reached US$428.85 million. This figure represents a 15.4% increase compared to November 2025 and a 23.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

China holds nearly 70% of the import market share.

China continues to assert its position as Vietnam's largest supplier of electrical wires and cables. In 2025, imports from this market reached US$3.11 billion, a sharp increase of 41% compared to the previous year. With this result, goods from China accounted for 68.4% of the country's total imports of this product group.

In December 2025 alone, Vietnam spent $287.57 million importing goods from China, an increase of 11.7% compared to the previous month and a 23.1% increase compared to December 2024.

Besides China, markets such as South Korea, Japan, and Thailand also play an important role in the supply chain. Specifically:

  • Korea:It is projected to reach $430.81 million in 2025, a 13.6% increase compared to 2024, representing a 9.5% market share.
  • Japan:Trade turnover reached nearly $167.26 million, an increase of 20.3%, accounting for 3.7% of the total.
  • Thailand:It recorded strong growth of 46.9%, reaching a value of nearly $121.56 million, accounting for 2.7% of the total trade turnover.
