According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's wheat imports in the first 10 months of 2025 recorded a decrease in all three criteria: volume, value, and average value compared to the same period of the previous year.
Overview of the wheat market for the first 10 months of 2025
Specifically, total wheat imports reached nearly 4.73 million tons, equivalent to a value of over $1.26 billion. Compared to the first 10 months of 2024, import volume decreased by 5.7%, value decreased by 8.3%, and the average import price decreased by 2.7%, fluctuating at around $267.1 per ton.
Notably, in October 2025 alone, import activity saw a strong surge. The volume of goods imported reached 533,201 tons (a 42.8% increase compared to September 2025) with a value of US$141.75 million. The average import price in this month reached US$265.9/ton, a slight increase of 0.5% compared to the previous month.
Analyzing developments in key markets
Australia is currently the largest supplier, accounting for 25.7% of the total volume and 26.4% of the total value of Vietnam's imports. In the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam imported 1.22 million tons of wheat from this market, worth over US$333 million. Notably, in October 2025, imports from Australia surged by 2,049% compared to September 2025.

Trái ngược với đà tăng của Australia và Mỹ, thị trường Brazil ghi nhận sự sụt giảm rõ rệt. Trong 10 tháng đầu năm 2025, nhập khẩu từ Brazil đạt 989.002 tấn, giảm 15,8% về lượng và 13,2% về kim ngạch so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái. Đáng chú ý, trong tháng 10/2025, Việt Nam tiếp tục không phát sinh giao dịch nhập khẩu lúa mì từ thị trường này.
Thị trường Mỹ cho thấy mức tăng trưởng ấn tượng nhất về khối lượng với 745.346 tấn, tăng mạnh 66,6% so với 10 tháng năm 2024, chiếm khoảng 15,8% tổng lượng nhập khẩu cả nước. Tuy nhiên, giá nhập khẩu trung bình từ Mỹ giảm 11,9%, xuống còn 272,9 USD/tấn.
