Police in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, have arrested a group of seven Vietnamese students on charges of stealing a large quantity of goods and shipping them back to Vietnam for resale.

Mainichi reported today, citing investigators, that...The arrested suspects are all in their 20s, led by a 23-year-old male student. The remaining six are divided into two groups, operating in Tokyo and Osaka.

Afterward, the leading male student would receive the goods and pay the members. The stolen goods were then carried back to Vietnam by international students who returned to the country, and the suspect paid them with plane tickets.

Police are investigating the possibility that this is an organized crime group actively recruiting international students with limited financial resources. The arrested suspects all admitted to their actions and stated that they wanted to "earn money to pay tuition and cover living expenses."

Japanese-made cosmetics are becoming increasingly popular due to their high quality, despite their high price. The cosmetics manufacturer stated that most of the stolen products had not yet been widely sold in the Vietnamese market.
