Mr. Nguyen Hoang Son - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tam Hop border commune, Tuong Duong district said: In the past few days, there has been continuous heavy rain over a large area in the commune and neighboring communes. Accordingly, water from rivers and streams rose, causing flooding at the spillway located right at the gateway to Tam Hop commune. This is the only route for people in Tam Hop commune to reach the district center. Therefore, all villages in Tam Hop commune were completely isolated. On September 20, local authorities urgently moved some households at high risk of landslides to a safe place.

Currently, local authorities have assigned forces to be on duty to prevent people from passing through this dangerous area.

Similarly, two inner villages of Yen Thang commune, Xop Coc and Tat, have also been isolated since September 20 until now.

The route from Trung Thang village, Yen Thang commune to Xop Coc village and Tat village has 2 spillways, one at the beginning of Xop Coc village, one at the end of Tat village. Every time it rains, the water in Chon stream rises very quickly, causing the 2 villages in this area to be isolated, all trading activities of the people are completely cut off. It is known that Xop Coc village and Tat village, Yen Thang commune have about 200 households with about 800 people.

Mr. Vi Van Khiem - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Thang commune said that because the width of Chon stream is quite large, every time the water rises, if people are allowed to pass through it, it is very dangerous, potentially causing loss of life and property. Therefore, the local government has set up checkpoints to prohibit people from entering. This point has been flooded many times since the beginning of the year.

The road from Xa Luong commune to Luong Minh commune was also flooded at Cha Luom stream since the afternoon of September 20, causing traffic to be paralyzed. Not only flooded, many roads have also been eroded and are at high risk of erosion.

Many areas of crops were also severely damaged. Ms. Loc Thi Van - Deputy Secretary of the Xieng My Commune Party Committee said that the prolonged heavy rain caused about 45 hectares of unharvested rice to collapse to the ground, and if the rain continued, the crop would be completely lost.
