Mr. Nguyen Hoang Son, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tam Hop border commune, Tuong Duong district, said: "In recent days, there has been continuous heavy rain across a wide area in the commune and neighboring communes. As a result, water levels in rivers and streams have risen, flooding the bridge located at the entrance to Tam Hop commune. This is the only road for people in Tam Hop commune to reach the district center. Therefore, all villages in Tam Hop commune are completely isolated. On September 20th, the local Party committee and government urgently relocated some households at high risk of landslides to safe areas."

Local authorities have now deployed personnel to prevent people from passing through this dangerous area.

Similarly, the two inner hamlets of Yen Thang commune, Xop Coc and Tat, have also been isolated since September 20th.

The road from Trung Thang village, Yen Thang commune, to Xop Coc and Tat villages has two overflow bridges, one at the beginning of Xop Coc village and one at the end of Tat village. Whenever it rains, the Chon stream rises very quickly, isolating these two villages and completely cutting off all trade and communication for the people. It is known that Xop Coc and Tat villages in Yen Thang commune have approximately over 200 households with about 800 inhabitants.

Mr. Vi Van Khiem, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Thang commune, said that due to the considerable width of the Chon stream, it is very dangerous for people to cross when the water level rises, posing a potential risk to life and property. Therefore, the local authorities have set up a checkpoint to prohibit people from crossing. This point has been flooded many times since the beginning of the year.

The road from Xa Luong commune to Luong Minh commune was also flooded in the Cha Luom ravine section from the afternoon of September 20th, paralyzing traffic. In addition to flooding, many roads have experienced landslides and are at high risk of further landslides.

In addition, many households suffered severe damage due to landslides, with soil and rocks flooding into their homes and causing walls to collapse. Currently, Xa Luong commune and Thach Giam town are mobilizing forces to urgently relocate the belongings of households affected by landslides to safe locations.

Many crop areas also suffered heavy damage. Ms. Loc Thi Van, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xieng My commune, said that prolonged heavy rain caused about 45 hectares of unharvested rice crops to be flattened, and if the rain continues, the entire crop is likely to be lost.

It is known that in recent days, the leaders of the Tuong Duong District Party Committee and People's Committee have been urging and directing localities to implement response and recovery efforts. At the same time, they have directed the District Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command to go directly to the affected areas to instruct the People's Committees of the communes to mobilize local forces to support damage recovery, especially for households whose houses have been damaged.
